Learning how to tune a bass guitar on your own

This material facilitates your inquiries in tuning a bass guitar. Based on the lack of information on the number of strings on your bass guitar, I would propose to you with the following options which are 4-string, 5-string, 6-string and 7-string basses. Let's first taking a look at the standard tuning of a bass guitar. A four string bass guitar's notes are; G-D-A-E and are best tuned from the highest string (thinnest) to the lowest (thickest). When tuning your guitar, the addition of a low B string is similar to a five string bass tuning.

With Bass Guitars that have six strings, there is a narrower string that is of a higher pitch and plays the C note. On a6-string bass guitar the settings is B-E-A-D-G-C, wherein the fattest with lowest note is B and the thinnest and highest note is C. On a seven-string bass, as opposed to a standard bass, a high F-string is added. The tuning of a 7 string bass from lowest string to highest string is, B-E-A-D-G-C-F. Setting your bass correct consists on pairing the sound of our instrument with that of a bass guitar tuner, pitch pipe, tuning fork or fine adjusted piano or keyboard.

You can always find a tuner by doing a simple internet search. Using your tuner makes guitar tuning much simpler; all you have to do is match the pitch of the string to the note on the tuner. It is our wish that your ears are tuned to music enough for you to be able to hear this. When the note on your bass is the same as that of your tuner, the vibration patterns will match and you will auditory perceive no wah-wah-wah sound when you play the two notes. There will be no collision between notes.

Adjust the string and tune the correct note. You should only tighten your strings when they need it. This way you will not break the string because it is too tight. Listen to the two notes carefully to make sure they're the same with no clashing or wah-wah-wah noises between them. When the notes are in synchronization, you will no longer hear the wah-wah sound.

If you go past the tune point, it will start to sound wrong, and then you must loosen the string a bit until you find the tune point. Tune your strings one by one by matching their sounds to those of the corresponding notes on your tuner. It involves practice just like any other instrument. As always, keep in mind that practice makes perfect, especially when how to tune a guitar. After some time you may realize that it is not necessary for you to rely on your electronic tuner to tune your bass.
