Basic Steps to Learn How to Play Guitar



Learn to recognize which fret and which string it is because this is essential on how to play the guitar. A fret is a metal strip fastened to the fretboard of the guitar at exact points. The basis of a chord's pitch is the pressing of the string against a fret. Starting from the narrow end, or the fretboard of the guitar, is the metal strip identifying the first fret, the second and so on.

The thinnest string is the high E and is also known as the first string, the B is the second string ending to the thickest the low E which is the sixth string.

For even sound production consistency in strumming speed must be exercised.

Remember that the key to learn how to play guitar is to know the chords with the help of a chord chart. Now that you are learning how to play guitar, it is time to be acquainted with the chords by using a chord chart and trying out some simple songs.
