Insane Clown Posses Miracles May Not Be Horror Rap, But Thats No Reason to Hate

There have been good ICP songs and bad ICP songs. No Juggalo will deny that, and there's no reason to. When your musical career spans more than 20 years, there are bound to be hits and flops. But there's also no denying that Insane Clown Posse's "Miracles" endured more criticism than any other ICP song ever did.

There are many reasons for this of course, but the root of Insane Clown Posse's "Miracles" problems stem from the fact that its lyrics seem to portray Violent J and 2 Dope as fools. Most of Insane Clown Posse's "Miracles" lyrics revolve around the wonders of life, choosing to revere them with awe rather than understand them scientifically. There's nothing wrong with this approach, unless you misinterpret the message, as many did.

First, let's try to understand why ICP's die hard horror rap fans denounced this ICP song. Insane Clown Posse's "Miracles" is about as far away from the idea of horror rap as one can travel. Insane Clown Posse's "Miracles" doesn't deal with death or murder or gore or Lettes like almost every other ICP song does. However, the last part of that sentence is where these horror rap enthusiasts are wrong.

Not every other ICP song is filled to the brim with horror rap ideology; in fact there are a few ICP songs on every Insane Clown Posse horror rap album that deal with the softer side of things. Violent J's theory on why Insane Clown Posse's "Miracles" was met with resistance more so than the other ICP songs that are soft is because this one was accompanied by a music video, and then parodied by SNL on a national stage.

If there's one thing horror rap fans don't like, it's the mainstream media, so Insane Clown Posse's "Miracles" being parodied there automatically gave this particular ICP song a sour reputation.

Now for the other faction of music fans who didn't take too kindly to Insane Clown Posse's "Miracles", those fans that don't associate with horror rap necessarily but are fans of music as a whole. Most of this group chose to ridicule Insane Clown Posse's "Miracles" because they interpreted the not-so-horror rap lyrics as evidence of Violent J and 2 Dope being unintelligent.

Again, this is not the case. Yes, the two horror rap magnates listed off a series of life's wonders that seemed to dumbfound them in the notorious ICP song, but they weren't actually stating that they didn't understand how everyday things like Magnets work. Instead, this ICP song is meant to act as a vessel through which listeners can become re-enchanted with the amazing wonders around them, like animals and yes, magnets.

So if you belong to either the horror rap faction or the mainstream faction who chose to rally against what is now one of the most famous ICP songs of all time (thanks to you!), look a little deeper next time before you judge!
